If you’re not laughing at and sending off e-cards from someecards.com, well you’re not as cool as you thought you were. Here’s where I post a card from the site. I do it because I enjoy them and you should too.

It’s hard out here being a woman. Especially a young woman. As I was listening to this song by Karina Pasian and it put me in mind of this recent study about teenage girls feeling harassed. This is nothing new, hell I could’ve written that song AND conducted this entire study just from the personal experiences of my own and those of my friends. I think any woman could.
90% of teenage girls report experiencing sexual harassment.
Ninety percent of girls reported experiencing sexual harassment at least once. Specifically, 67 percent of girls reported receiving unwanted romantic attention, 62 percent were exposed to demeaning gender-related comments, 58 percent were teased because of their appearance, 52 percent received unwanted physical contact and 25 percent were bullied or threatened with harm by a male. 52 percent of girls also reported receiving discouraging gender-based comments on the math, science and computer abilities, usually from male peers, and 76 percent of girls reported sexist comments on their athletic abilities, again predominantly from male peers.
[…] Older girls and those from a lower socioeconomic background reported more sexism than did their peers. Latin and Asian American girls reported less sexual harassment than did girls of other ethnic groups. Girls who had been exposed to feminist ideas, either through the media or an adult such as a mother or teacher, were more likely to identify and report sexist behavior than were girls who had no information about feminism.
… Frequent sexual harassment may lead girls to expect and accept demeaning behaviors in heterosexual romantic relationships, and sexist remarks.
Just a little food for thought. Chew on that.

It’s not me, it’s you.
I hear a lot of talk about how women respond to men’s attempts at hollering on the street. Most times, women will say that we don’t respond well when guys approach us because we are bombarded with unacceptable approaches and unwanted advances more often than not. Honestly, you don’t even have to look half decent to get a lot of unwanted hootin’ and hollerin’. Men tend to underestimate the importance of being able to walk down the street and just get from point A to point B totally unmolested (physically and verbally). Do guys know how it is to be walking down the block and decide that you need to cross the street just to avoid the possibility of being harassed. Sometimes you just don’t feel like talking and that’s your prerogative. These are all reasons why women say they aren’t really that open to all attempts to talk to them. Regrettably, some nice men get dissed because of it. One solution would be for men as a whole to reign in their brethren and collectively fall back, thus making it easier for each individual brother to get his mack on. Also known as: “Nigga, quit beepin yo horn at women and yelling inappropriate shit out your car window so I can speak to her like a human being and get them digits!” Sorry yall, sometimes innocent people caught up in the crossfire. ATL – Make It Up With Love
I was listening to Pandora and this song popped up on my “Mint Condition Radio” station. Why? Pandora says, because it “features modern R&B stylings, mild rhythmic syncopation, heavy use of vocal harmonies, paired vocal harmony, and a vocal-centric aesthetic.” Hmm.
What ever happened to these guys? Did they even have another hit? Song was always pretty catchy, IMO. Peep the matching track jackets at 2:16. If you and your girl insist on shopping at the Adidas store together, don’t rock your purchases at the same time in the same place. Please do not try that at home.
